The Lucky Golden Nugget Mine: Exploring a Massive, Abandoned Gold Mine at Night

Komentarze: The Lucky Golden Nugget Mine: Exploring a Massive, Abandoned Gold Mine at Night Another one of my favorites :D - od joe m
This in a sense was like watching Faces of Death. I'm going to visit my Grandpa's mine in California. It's a shaft mine that shoots down 300 feet. I expect to wear 3M respirator equipment, repel down,  and have an egress plan just in case. - od Alexander Thickstun
do you guys have gas meters on you, you should - od STLGAMING
Incredible... - od Viper GTS
The equipment in the power room looks more recent than 1940's, looks like it could be from the 70's or 80's. - od Bill Rentschler (Forwardbias)
do you or any one know of any mines in north cali mainly stanislaus forest or eldorado forest  - od Jeff Sorensen
Could be a cheap way to get buried. R.I.P. - od Patrick Gallagher
i wont be dumb enough to enter them mines screw it i dont wanna die.........yet - od Ducano Garcia
Don't you worry about no oxygen or other hazardous gases? I'm not in no way knocking you because I have steeped in a few mines but not past the entrance lighting. After watching a few videos on the hazards I think I would rope together with another person and stay spaced. Reason being if you did hit a no oxygen area the person behind you could pull you out when they see you collapse. Anyways I enjoy the video, just be careful is all.  - od Meeker Extreme
Do you guys use maps or something? how do you guys not get lost?... - od Bblack
That was great!! Thanks for filming it as I wound never have the guts to go in there as I probably would fall through the many drop points and become a statistic. - od mike577040

A great many gold mines were shut down early in WW2 by Presidential Order; with the gold price fixed at $35/ounce; most were never reopened afterwards. When the gold price was allowed to float freely in 1969 or so, there came to be a real surge in examining these mines to see if they were economical to restart at the much higher prices for both and silver; peaking at about $850/ounce for gold and about $50/ ounce for silver in 1979 or early 1980. The Hunt Brothers very nearly cornered  the precious metal markets. After they were run out of the markets, silver and gold prices eventually collapsed, more or less at as low as $4/ounce for silver and around $260/ounce for gold by about 1990. I know because I worked in gold and silver mines from 1975 until 2004 when I was unable to work because of having MS.I loved the work and enjoyed everything about mining; it was sometimes hard to make a living when the prices plunged; in one year, 1989, I discovered that my family was eligible for food stamps even though I was working fulltime as a stope miner. That year, my hourly wage was down to $9.35/hour because the Sunshine Mine in Kellogg, Idaho had our wages pegged to the price of Silver, and that is what we mined. When I was forced to retire in 2004 my pay was about $24/hour. - od bullmoose556
Notice the black poly air and water lines hanging on the left hand side of the drive, the use of black poly in Underground Mines started around the middle 1970s and the type of signage used for the escape way dates from the same era.  - od Bernard Hill
