Wha? What's the correlation between gold on earth and lunar craters? Have you, any evidence to back this up besides "they have two similar shapes"? Besides, the shape of the gold around the US is basically 2 circles, if you looked around the moon, you could probably find LOADS of spots with that same shape, all it takes is two identical looking circles on the moon. You could probably find the same correlation in swiss cheese. And, how come there is no gold concentration around any other craters of the moon, and just those two craters? - od PlatinumSpoons

Well first off I am a NASA scientist (and gold prospect as hobby), the moon and the Earth were formed at roughly the same time as did the rest of the planets in our solar system. Although it is true that rare Earth elements can be traced to meteor impacts they are in very trace amounts, those from the formation stage formed the layers of molten material under the mantle or crust of the Earth, the spin of the magnetic materials in these layers or core as it is known is what creates magnetism and gravity out into space, this protects Earth from the solar wind. Gold, which occurs at the surface has been transported there via volcanic and seismic activity by a variety of methods including high pressure dissolved solids in the superheated water within the crust, again brought up towards the surface via volcanic activity. As it nears the surface it cools and depending upon the concentrations will come out of solution and nucleate into crystals or form a matrix of ore, the crystals can be exposed to erosion and these form the placer nuggets found in the creeks etc. The ore which contain gold but in smaller concentrations can be dug up and crushed to release the smaller particles and separated to form free gold which is melted into ingots. Can there be gold in the meteors ? sure its possible but highly unlikely when you consider the concentration that exist in the universe we are aware of. The facts you presented are incorrectly assumed, if a large meteor was to impact the Earth long ago it is possible that it helped to concentrate gold along a pattern, at the rim for instance, of the impact. But it was not the meteor or the moon that placed it there, It simply concentrated it much like the force of erosion.
