Jewelry Making : How to Solder Gold Jewelry

Komentarze: Jewelry Making : How to Solder Gold Jewelry Thanks for the video. Where can I get the boric acid and gold solder? - od Birdwoman58
Truly excellent question!! I have NEVER heard of using a flux as a quench- please, if you would be so kind, explain THAT!!! It was a wonderful video, totally different. Thanks so much. - od Gabby Flying Chef
Love it. but I do not understand why you used the solution of boric acid and alcohol as a quench? - od Dharlee Minter
I love your videos!!  Thank you so much.
Can we use the boric acid mix with other metals, like sterling silver?  Copper? Brass?
Thank you - od Audrey Bernstein
how do I find the online course? - od Art Studio
Rangga.. I have no experience with online classes, but I can defiantly suggest taking a course. I attended a course in Paola KS, where Mr.Gene Wilson instructs 3 different classes, one for beginners, one for master stone setting and also a class on casting. I would highly recommend doing this over an online course because the instructor is working right there with you and he is right there over your shoulder teaching you things based on what you already know and also is doing it at your pace. - od 182junglebook
Markos.. sorry about the misspelling of your name.. - od 182junglebook
Marcos.. The easy solder is a good choice for a chain, and you have to be especially careful if it is a hollow chain. Before you know it you could end up with a puddle of gold :0 But the only reason I could think of is with the torch you are using it might be too broad of a flame, with chains you want to direct the heat in a pinpoint spot, so I would lower the levels if gas/oxy and just make a smaller, tighter flame. Not hotter, just a tighter flame. - od 182junglebook
The alcohol used is denatured alcohol, usually you can pick up at any hardware store. I use an old baby food jar and use about a quarter to a half inch of the powder boric acid (hardware store cockroach and ant killer is boric acid, that is what I use. Check the label but on mine it says 100% boric acid..) And then I fill the jar about 3/4 of the way full of denatured alcohol. I have a hole cut into the lid of the baby food jar and a brush that I use to dab the solution onto the ring. - od 182junglebook
what sort of alcohol do you mix the boric acid with to make that solution ? thanks ste - od Ste Bates
Hey There! Thank you for this useful video. By the way, I hear lots of people keep on talking about online program called Jeweluxory Making (just google it), but I'm not sure if it's good. Have you thought about Jeweluxory Making? I've heard many incredible things about it and my cooworker finally learn jewellery making easily, but she refuses to tell me: ( - od Rangga Wanapati
And you should be using Hard solder, instead of Easy solder. Easy solder has a lower melting point and doesn't make the joint as strong as Hard solder would. Easy solder will show seams and is more likely to crack and break as well. But like I said before.. A ordinary band should never be cut-sized, rather shrunk/stretched. - od 182junglebook
How do you keep from marring the metal with the ring bending pliers you used? I have some and they always mar the metal. Even when I cut out pieces of copper to cover the surfaces--it still marks the metal. - od missanna208802
Thanks man good video - od bernie ayala
If its just a band you should have just shrunk it. Hardly ever should you have to cut-size a band. Unless of course there is a taper or diamonds, exc. But just a typical gold band shouldn't have to be cut sized. - od 182junglebook
Very professional, thanks. - od jittychitty
your video was really quite excellent thank you for sharing - od dekonfrost7
Wow! That made it look so easy. Why can't all instruction be like this? The tool can be bought on EBay or other jewelry supply vendors. - od losbozos
