There are several ways to do this process, if HNO3(Nitric Acid Reagent grade) is used then the silver would be dissolved and only gold would remain.That leaves you with 99.6 24K gold.SMB is Sodium Metabisulfate but this is no easy thing to learn.There are so many variables like gold tape and Gold fingers on Board's as well as IC Chips and CPU's there are several known way's to do this process with PMG's but don't just jump in. - od Michael Breaux

To be honest, i could write a 3000 words answer for these questions, i wish i had the time for that.
To make story short (and inconclusive), yes different karats means different gold content, thus different properties. But could be processed in same manner or a seperated.
Different type of scrap requires different treatment as composition of element and gold content are very different from one another...
